Mon & Alex’s Bangor Winery Wedding

Bride and groom at Bangor Winery holding hands as the bride's veil blows in the wind

I caught up with Mon & Alex about a month before their wedding on a super sunny, warm September day - warm to the point that I joked about how I wished I had worn a hat and some sunscreen - it was the perfect day for enjoying a beer at Preachers, as we got down to the nitty gritty of chatting through the wedding day, the plans and their hopes for the day. My main takeaway from this meeting was how warm, kind and bubbly the two of them were - this really shone through on their wedding day, a day which couldn’t have been a more stark contrast to our catch up at Preachers if it had tried!

As a wedding photographer, when you roll out of bed on the morning of a wedding, see a bit of cloud or maybe a completely overcast sky, you do a little happy dance as you know it’s going to be an awesome day for photography. Even if it does rain a bit, generally this isn’t a dealbreaker, because we’ve got some cute as heck clear umbrellas that we drag along with us to each wedding we shoot. October 22nd ‘22, forgive me for being a bit dramatic, was WET (really wet). The rain didn’t let up much all day, when we get this kind of weather on a wedding day it does heighten our stress a little, as we’re never really sure how the couple will respond. There wasn’t much to worry about with these guys though, as Rory and I found out! When we arrived at the cute little Bangor cottage, Mon was sitting in the chair having her makeup done, greeted us with a huge smile and started chatting about their morning. This would turn out to be the theme of the day, as Mon, Alex and their friends and family were all just so positive and stoked to be there.

While Hobart had constant rainfall throughout the day, everyone was super positive and we still managed to get some super cute pics, and after all of that, we ended up with 5-10 minutes of clear weather at Bangor just before dinner, just enough for some super moody bridal portraits with Mon & Alex. Thanks so much for such an awesome day guys!
